Eclipse Workshop for kids with Joe Rao, guest lecturer at New York’s Hayden Planetarium,

With the April 8th solar eclipse just one week away, the Putnam Valley Library will hold a special workshop for children about this celestial event. Joe Rao,  associate and guest lecturer at New York’s Hayden Planetarium, will talk about the cause and effects of the eclipse, what will be seen locally and will stress the safe ways of watching it. Mr. Rao will demonstrate how to construct a pinhole projection box and show other ways to project an image of the eclipsed sun.

Participation is limited to 20 children, plus one caretaker per family.

Each child participant will receive a pair of special eclipse glasses to watch the eclipse safely on April 8th. 

For ages 7 and up.
